What Do I Look For In A Videographer?
Most importantly, look for the style and quality of work they are producing.  As you shop around, compare not only price, but picture quality, number of cameras, editing style, text & graphics.  Is the picture steady or does it shake often?  Is the sharpness of the image what you expect, or something that your uncle’s camera can produce?  Is the audio clear without hiss and can you hear the vows clearly?  Are the videographers professional in appearance?  Are they members of any professional organizations?  Have they won any awards for their work?  Will the videographer be easy to get along with?  Will you have any “say” to include any special moments on the video, or are you forced to accept their packages?  Just remember that you are paying the videographer.  A lot of questions can be answered by your visit.

What Kind of Technology Should I Be Aware Of?
With today’s digital technology, you should expect to receive a very high quality image.  First, ask whether the prospective company is shooting, editing and mastering digitally.  Next, is to determine if you want Standard Definition (SD) or High Definition (HD).  For most couples, SD is more than adequate if the company uses high quality cameras.  However, if you're looking for the latest and greatest, then HD may be for you.  Keep in mind that the cost of HD could range from 20%-30% more than SD.

Will the camera operator be intrusive or disruptive?
We have heard the horror stories of other video companies with bright lights on the altar, or the cameraman who moves right up between the minister and the couple.  One thing that seems consistent with all of our couples is their comment,  “We knew you were there, but we hardly saw you.”  VideoMagic Productions respects the religious aspect of your wedding, so we don’t use any lights at the church while remaining stationary whenever possible.  At the reception, we use camera-mounted lights and not the big, tripod mounted “suns” as we call them because they light up a room disrupting your guests.

How Long Will The Finished Tape Be?    When Will I Get My Videotape?
VideoMagic customizes each production according to your preferences, but the average movie is edited down to approximately 90-110 minutes.  We may shoot up to 6 hours of footage and it will take anywhere from 30 – 40 hours to create your movie.  The DVD’s should be ready within 12-18 weeks after the wedding (depending on the time of year).  If you do not get us the required items by the time of your edit (i.e.…photos, music), then it may be held up longer.

Anything Else I Should Know?
Be cautious of anyone that offers video as a side to their original business.  Remember that the jack of all trades is a master of none!  Our main business and financial investment is in producing wedding videos, not being a photographer, DJ or anything else.  More times than not, we hear our couples say, “Our wedding video was the best money we spent…!”  With this in mind, it is important that you choose a video company you know you can trust.

Can I Make My Own Copies?
It is illegal to copy a DVD that has a copyright.  We keep master copies of everything we produce, so you can call us at anytime and we can copy a DVD for you usually within 48 hours.
